I'd be very surprised if there were any powertrain changes before MY 2015, which is when Automotive News says the Focus is due for a "reskin."

http://www.autonews.com/assets/pdf/future/ford2012.PDF

I would also guess they'd want to see the take rate for the 1.0 on the Fiesta before they decide whether or not it would sell in the N.A. Focus.

Ford has said otherwise, so until Ford puts out a press release stating that the 1.0L i3 would be coming in the U.S. Focus I don't believe the rumors or speculation.

1.0L Fiesta in 2014 yes, Focus, not so much.

That would require a different automatic as the DCT doesn't have the torque capacity. Plus, the 1.6 EcoBoost cams are driven by a belt rather than a chain, so that's a big maintenance item we are currently avoiding. Finally, do we really want the complexity of a turbo engineered by the same bunch that did the DCT? Just sayin...

I'll stick to my 160HP 148TQ and less maintenance for now thanks :D

Wouldn't mind the 1L down the road though. Would be sooooooooo much fun to tune and do mods too. Best part is that it is already great on FE and could be made better performance wise (giving up some DD drive ability and noise)

What Ford should do, ala future Mazda Skyactive style, is implement a twisty/long exhaust manifold and finally put in 13:1, 14:1 pistons and use pump gas! Aside from that costing more, less moving parts and labor to install.

I would be going with the manual so I would be fine with that. The 1.6t in the fusion feels nice enough though they didn't have a manual for me to test :(
I'm also fine with if it being turboed, it works wonders in my escape (though its the 2.0t). I really just wish this car had some more torque.

Yeah, because that has worked SO well for Mazda. Yes, it improved performance and mileage very marginally over the previous 2.0L and 2.5L, but, read the Mazda forums and blogs.... not enough of an increase for the added cost and issues they`re seeing now. Our current GDI 2.0L has a 12:1 CR which is quite high (motorcycle territory) and without the `magic`Skyactiv crap.

The service rep at the dealership told me he heard the DCT was going away for 2014 models. That was in January when I got my clutch pack n seals replaced. I still consider it rumor tho.

There isn't an order guide released yet for 2014 MY Focus. With regard to the 1.0L Ecoboost it will be available late fall 2013 according to my resources and is only available with a 5 speed manual.

Also with regard to the Fiesta, it will only be available on the SE trim level (no S or Titanium).

Unless the dealer specifically ordered one for inventory Ford had said essentially that the 6MT 1.6L EcoBoost Fusion would be customer order only and they didn't expect that the dealers would actually stock them.
