isn't havok basically saying "if the car is in cruise control at X speed and begins an incline (hill) that the RPM will go up" . Isn't that true though? Wouldn't it because it's in automatic and the computer senses and uphill, so it downshifts, which makes the RPM go up. Am I wrong? my 97 oldmobile cutlass did this lol.
the new focus, when in auto and going downhill ,if you take your off the gas, it will downshift to slow you down. Also it will downshift if I am cruising on a highway an encounter an a big incline (hill) - which will in turn increase RPM because of the downshift.

or am i just confusing myself and others? lol
Thx.
I have a 5spd. I just did a video and I'm uploading it now to YouTube. I did it on a road with an incline but not too steep so the car stays a 45mph. The car clearly increases rpms to maintain speed.

What you're watching is actually an indication of the speed of your car actually changing. Cruise control can't maintain 100% accuracy to speed. There is usually a 1-3 mph variance that it tries to stay within. The initial drop was the vehicle slowing down, then the cruise realized that it needed more fuel to add power, then sped up slightly beyond the designated speed. Also, our tach (iirc) is receiving an electronic signal from the PCM-not a mechanical connection to the transmission.

Try a video with the tach and speedometer both in view.

Edit: As a mathematics example- If 45mph = 3250, then 44 = 3177, 46 = 3322

3322-3177 = 145 rpm difference from 44-46 mph.

No, you didn't. With a fixed gear, it's always the same RPM at the same speed. There are no exceptions unless your clutch is slipping.

+1. Just because your cruise is set at 45, does not mean that's the actual ground speed.

This. I can't believe a concept as simple as this takes this much effort to get across.
Didn't you ever play with cogs as a kid?

Can we get back on topic? This thread was made to discuss which rmm's people were using and which they thought best based on their personal experience. Not whether or not someone's rpms are different at the same speed or not.

In all cases (except for the E-Focus mount) you're going to be looking for either MS3 RMM or ST RMM. No one makes a NA specific RMM.

I am leaning more to the focus-e RMM. I have heard very good things about it and the price is definitely right for me.
