My girlfriend has one and we call it the little Prii that could :p or the gutless wonder.

And as for focus: I call them Foci if there a large quantities of them, if there are just maybe 2-3 I call them Focuses. But if there is 4 or more usually I call them Foci, though I find myself saying Foci for just 2 cars anyway.

Exactly. Fo Fos, Mo Fo? (Multiple cars, singular persons)??? Et cetera...

But back to the original point, the troll in the mentioned thread would have said it's NOT Fo Fos, but rather, Fo Fi, because the plural of anything derived from Latin is, in his razor-sharp mind, always derived by sticking a lower-case "i" at the end, or so it would appear.

Yes, but you have spoken "stercum", I'm afraid. Go back and study the opening post. There will be a quiz.

Really you made a post about this? lol

You should go back and read the dictionary post I made as it said BOTH are correct, Foci AND Focuses.

Maybe you should go back and reread some of the posts, I'm not giving a test.

BTW I was a copy editor from 1988 to 1991 for the military, I have a little bit of a background in the field, not much but some. I have been corrected by some of the best copy editors in the US Army, I can take it, it's part of the job.

Given that language constantly evolves, I'm not sure why it matters too much. Were "Texting", "Pinging" and "Blogging" even words a decade ago?

what I learned today

this is probably in the wrong place, but IDK where else it really should be, so I put err here!

Foci, the plural of focus, is pronounced with a sci sound, so like fosci, like the sci in science. we are learning about ellipses and such, and the two focal points. i've been sitting in the back of the room like, "hell yeah relating my car to math!" all week now. anyways, you guys are probably all like "you didn't know that?", but I just learned it and thought i'd share it with y'all

It can be pronounced either way. Most people I think say Fo-k-eye. I've never actually hear anyone pronounce it fo-sai...

I always said foh-k-eye but after the math lessons this week, i feel like it's wrong lol. but seeing that, the UK uses the hard "k" sound, where US used the softer "sci" sound
