Nice purchase. Red R32's have always looked amazing. Don't see too many of them in that color.

And I agree with wiscogti

I might be a little bias, but the VR6 is one of my favorite sounding engines, it sounds like you're riding chewbacca down the fast lane. I'm pretty sure the exhaust flapper "mod" is factory on the .:R, since my friends MKIV has the same thing and he said it was factory. He took the resonator off and it sounds incredible, he never drives with the flapper closed. I've never driven the 3.2L VR6, but my MK3 2.8L pulls pretty nicely. And don't even get me started on the .:R front seats, they are probably the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. Nice find, you're gonna enjoy it for sure.

Thanks.

Flapper mod is already done. It's nice to leave closed in the morning on the way to work when I'm still half asleep. I've been tossing the res delete idea back and forth but I'm a little reserved on the raspy-ness with the flapper still closed. I know open it sounds angry as hell.

edit: Once I fix my gopro case I'll get some driving videos of the exhaust in stock mode and in flapper open mode.

Weekend Updates..

So Friday night I started the work to install the Konis on the .:R32 and pretty quickly hit a gigantic road block. First of all I'm dumb and took the PO's word for it when he said shocks were bad... they aren't... but w/e have Koni's already so keeping them cuz I like. 2nd. Had I bothered to actually read the quote from the local dealer that he had on things that were broke and needed replacing and all that I would have noticed that both front springs were already broken....

And it was doing this to the bottom of the shock tower.

I'll be doing that Ground Control coil-over conversion a lot sooner than I had originally expected. Fortunately tax return couldn't have come at a better time!!

So instead I moved onto other things that I wanted done to that car.

Step 1 was remove all the ugly chrome * off the grill / rear hatch

I was still a little pissed when I started the removal of the chrome on the grill so I kinda just attacked it with a screwdriver... there are paint scratchs and small gouges anywhere so i'm just going to proceed directly with the black p-dip grill. Eventually the headlights will get cracked open the housings painted black as well.

I also started work on installing the Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS unit and my old sub/amp from the focus. So far I'll I've done is run the co-ax cables, run the mic wire and soldered together the adapter wire harness to the radio wire harness (only pic I took)

[/URL]

So this is how she sits until new springs show up.

Minor update.

Called Ground Control on Monday... they don't make a coil-over conversion kit for the R32's. (just the base jetta/golfs / non awd stuff. And no Audi TT kit either to try and work around it that way.

Got a buddy locally who has a set of euro sped R32 springs made by H&R that I'll be picking up Sat.

Side note, whatever you do, don't run the .:R32 low on fuel. Their fuel pumps are notorious for breaking if you run it to low, as my friend just found out.

I've never seen springs break before. That's...impressive.

Got the new springs on Sat

Stock on left, Euro spec R32's on right

And assemble!

Ran into some issues with the rear springs.. mainly the fact that my spring compressor can't compress them enough to remove and I was by myself and had not chances of prying the knuckle down far enough to get them out. So currently still running stock rears. I have an appointment tomorrow to get my wheel bearing done and they'll toss the rears in for me as well.

But here she is finally out of the garage!

Also Grill = Black now (shitty pic)

Also radio install finished.

And one last pic of a good rainy stare down
