Possible situation with my hatchback...

So, I put on the fswerks intake and stealth catback a few months ago. Haven't had any trouble up until recently. At least I think it could be trouble. Starting this week, once in a while when I cold start my car after its been sitting over night, when I turn over the engine, there is a single pinging sound. A metal hitting metal sound. I thought maybe its the exhaust hitting the heat guard as the engine moves, but I wanted to see if anyone else has any ideas?

You could very well be right. I know my Injen intake is pretty cramped in that space as well and I've had multiple people ask me if it was normal to see so much engine movement on ignition. All it would take to find out is opening the hood and having someone else watch the area as the car starts under those conditions.

You don't have a different motor mount, do you?

Check the hanger that is located over the driver side rear suspension. I found on mine that it was rattling on part sub-frame. I just had to bend the hanger some and no noise. BTW it was really during cold and under hard acceleration.

Actually, yes. The weather just changed from mid 80s to the 50s. No motor mounts yet.

If you can afford to, I would definatly change the RMM. I had a MS3 in and just changed to the Focus electric one. I think either one is good but the Focus electric may be just a bit better. The stock one is terrible, you should be able to feel the difference right away.
