Fixed it.

I should have paid more attention to the first code thrown - Cylinder #2 misfire.
Yup, the mani hose clamp right at the cylinder head came loose, sucking air. Couldn't see it.

A local Ford dealer (Sound, in Renton) had a "Talk To A Tech" email system set up - Brandt checked the VIN, and sent me a service bulletin on how to isolate vacuum leaks. That required a datalogger, but I read into it and started clamping/capping off vac lines, etc, which is when I saw the loose clamp.

Farkle me, glad that's over. Thanks for the board members input, too!

'04 SVT won't idle for squat, plugs are DRY, Tommy is disappointed.
Saw a brief P0171 the other day (cleared that, ran fine), then when the stumble started, saw a #2 cylinder misfire code (cleared that), but the full monty appears now as
P1131.

Car ran fine, I parked it for two days, but when I started it up yesterday it stumbled at idle. I have to keep revs up @ stops, but it actually sorta runs OK once rolling; lots of popping on decel, though.

At work yesterday, I found the vacuum hose elbow at the sensor on the passenger side (at the end of the fuel rail) hanging loose - plugged it back in, no change. I blame the guy that R+R'd the alternator for knocking that loose.

Last night I popped the wee vacuum tubes off, (behind the intake mani) and found no issues.
PCV hose appears OK
I replaced the dang fuel filter last night (+ changed oil while I was under there).
Stock air filter box is dry.
There is a newish (20k ago) Bosch front O2 sensor that I replaced at 100k for 'good luck'.
As well, I replaced the PCV valve at that time.

It sure FEELS like a fuel starvation or a classic vacuum leak, but I can't ID any leak(s). Fuel filter contents showed it wasn't a wasted effort.

Any verifiable info would be appreciated, thanks!

It should be a good a idea to replace spark plugs, spark plug wires and the best o2 sensor are the oem(motorcraft) ones.

Check your wiring at your O2 make sure its connected well and check to make sure wiring isn't burned through anywhere. Look at your voltage on your scanner for your O2 and see what its reporting.

hmmm... unplugged the 02 while the engine is running, no change.
Searching locally for a Motorcraft - Ford Parts at the chain stores - FAIL. O'Reilly wanted $140, next Wednesday delivery.

BUT!

A local Ford dealer actually has the best price (and it's in stock!!) at $67.04
Part # 9F472(DY-850) is superseded by 9F472(DY1040)

Ready to fire up the 'scooter' and head down there. Stay tuned, as they say...

Well, it wasn't the O2. Hate throwing parts in needlessly.

Here's the latest freeze frame data:

Fuel 0.0 PSI 9


Um,,, fuel pressure, maybe?
I DID replace the fuel filter, but...

Ideas? Ways to continue diagnosing, please?

If that fuel pressure reading is correct, 9PSI is not enough to run the car. I'd be verifying that reading with a mechanical gauge and if it reflects that data, replacing the fuel pump.

Thanks, I've been searching for that manual gauge testing procedure too.

From what I can tell by my rather basic OBDII readout and other posts, that 9PSI reading is rather bogus, as in, it's not telling the whole story.

there is a big engine harness connector above the alternator. i had it once pinch the rubber gasket inside it leading to poor connections. it wouldnt be a bad idea to make all connections in that area are good and solids.
