I think the reason is that cops don't want to have to get a search warrant to get in your car so they just say you can't tint the windows so they can see in anytime they want. I think that is ridiculous. Government is trying to keep control....
I really want to just get them tinted and say f the law but once I got a ticket I would be extremely upset.

I've been lucky enough to have only got warnings so I figured I better take it off and I've been running "pullover free" since (except the one right after I removed it. I think it was one of the same cops that pulled me over before and just wanted an excuse to make sure I removed the tint).

I see so many cars that have illegal tint in the cities, I always wonder whether they get in trouble for it or not. You would think if you aren't doing anything wrong they would let you be. My girlfriend lives in Edina where the cops are pricks so I don't want to risk it. My boss at work (also lives in Edina) said he got pulled over twice in two weeks for having window tint...... not only that but he got 2 tickets because he didn't have time to get it taken off. I would flip.

I think some of them just don't care and just keep paying the tickets. A previous boss of mine took a trip to the cities got 2 tickets while he was there and still has his windows tinted. According to him it's worth the $250 or so fine to keep them tinted. I'm just like well I'm glad you can afford that while I'm working my butt off to just keep up with the bills.

Duluth cops aren't bad usually. I had mine tinted for several months then took a trip to the cities. On my way back I was stopped on I-35 near Hinckley and got a warning. Then once I got back I didn't have a chance to remove it right away and over the next week I was pulled over 3 more times for it. (no idea why it started all of a sudden like that after months of no one bothering me). I removed it as soon as I could.

The other odd thing I noticed is that when I was pulled over the first time the cop told me that had his partner pulled me over he would have ticketed with no questions asked. I'm not ungrateful for his generosity but it is frustrating that there is no consitancy. Not to mention all the ricer hondas and acuras out there with blacked out windows that don't seem to ever get stopped...

Buddy of mine went to the doctor and said that he gets headaches from the light while driving, he got a prescription allowing darker tint. He now has 20% of his g37s.

Ugh, I hear stories like that and I get nervous but then I remember my buddy that had 20% tint on a car he got from SD for over a year and he said no one ever bothered him. GD IT!

Just a regular doctor or was it an eye doctor?

Either way, you should see if you can get the docs info from your buddy and PM me with it. If it's not too much trouble that is.

Regular doctor, not sure who he went to. I can ask him. I have an appointment for tomorrow for my doctor, I'm going to ask for one too.

You can have 50% - that is the legal limit. I have 23% on the rear 3 and 30% on the front two on my Contour SVT and got a few tickets, but it got me out of speeding tickets every time...

50% IS worth it - my GF got 50% done on her car (after watching the pile of ~$120 tickets I got) and its awesome on her car.

Tint or no tint - %50 is better than nothing!
