Brazilian Cars are Deadly

Another sign that big companies really care about our well being, and so we don't need any regulation of industry.

Cars Made in Brazil More Deadly

Well... How much more do we make a month than Brazilians? When put into consideration, yes ford may try to cut costs, but in the end I think they'd have to charge less to be capable of selling them like normal cars, thus, cut back on production costs... less spot welds... well okay, they say 20% of the cars body is the cost of electricity used to spot weld so... I guess that is one way to do it...

Perhaps though, auto companies should invest into cheaper alternatives to what we use here, that is better used for their economy...

Not trying to say that what they are doing is good, but, we're only human...

The cheapest econobox cars sold in Brazil are 1-star safety rated, like the Chinese made car. (watch that youtube crash test video).

They manufacture out of date cars in Brazil.
I had a 1953 Willy's, I could buy replacement mechanical parts all day long because 50 years ago, all the manufacturing and tooling went to Brazil where they kept making 1950's vehicles. Do they still make the old VW beetle's in south america? That's where obsolete tooling goes, poor developing countries.

Cars are much safer now than they were in the 1990's
I like pre-1970 cars, but I don't kid myself, they are death traps in a wreck.

Maybe Brazil should take responsibility and reinforce their transportation infrastructure to handle the rise in automobiles. When you have terrible roads and hundreds of thousands of people driving around with little or no education, the results will be fatal.

Brazil's transportation infrastructure as a whole as always been questionable. It's just now that people down there are wiseing up to it. Unlike here in the U.S. and Europe the safety standards aren't as strictly enforced(if there are any to begin with).

china does not have to worry about there people as they are breading way too fast to be killed off in auto accidents.

as for any "developing" countries i say bull as they know how to build safe cars.
the problem is not the cars per say but the big corps who want to make a killing (pun intended) on the profit margins.

build them cheap sell lots of them make tons money.
it is up to the unknowing, uncaring public of that country to get the ball rolling on proper safety. as look at the roads. the countries politicians do not care about it.

anti lock brakes air bags are not the problem the problem is the people themselves, not to dump on them, just they do not know.
could say uneducated...but how could one even know this when the education needed is not even available to them.

road accidents injuries and deaths rates would drop if people in even the United States of America would get better education than trying to put a bandaid on it with high tech trash that does not solve the problems in the first place.

.
but no i do not know how the cars are build in "other" countries but any cheap car is going to FAIL when hit by bigger, faster.
i owe my life to a airbag, seat belts, big truck, a helmet on a moto. (sadly many accidents), for some reason people like to go out of there way to hit my autos.

not having the best safety gear is a problem and all auto manufacturers know what works and how. and what fails and why.

Maybe, just maybe... Instead of always putting safety on manufacturers they need to take stupidity out of people to make things safer. You know, make safer drivers as they do in Europe where you actually have to go to a school.

You should be able to drive a stick and do a power slide to pass...

Also automatics should be banned... That'll get rid of the stupid ones :) Not saying auto drivers are stupid, just that anyone can "drive" an auto...

as the old saying goes, make something idiot proof, and they will just make a better idiot.

I agree that safer drivers make safer streets. but educating drivers is not going to solve the problem. My sister is a very safe driver. She went to drivers ed. But when she has a cell phone in her hand, its an entirely different story.

although it will never totally work, sometimes, we as humans have to be protected from ourselves.
