As I was backing up into the bay though, he called out to say my reverse lights started flickering - and then they cut out entirely.



Following a repair of the wire, it and the rest were then taped up and covered in a section of wire loom, as they should have been from the factory. The reverse lights work again, the trunk opens as it should, and the warnings are gone from the cluster.

The rest of the wires were still in good shape but that one had had enough and split in two. So sedan owners, check to see if your wires are covered, and if not note that you could have a problem if one weakens like this one did.
Hi Twenty,

I'm having the same issue with my trunk lid not opening. Thought it was the fuse or the key fob battery, but no luck there... Took it to my dealer and they couldn't find the problem...

Can't view the links to your photos that you posted (blocked at work), but I'll try viewing them when I get home.

And I'll start looking at the wiring as well...

Thanks to Twenty I inspected the trunk wiring and found a broken wire as well. The wiring is not protected other than electrical tape. Routing of the wiring is mediocre at best. How and where the wires are mounted puts undo stress on them every time the trunk is opened and closed. Poor design...
