Covering the hole should make it sound very quiet--basically the same as stock. That is how the K&N is with the plug installed, anyway.

The K&N open end filter is nowhere near as loud as an open element (short ram) intake. I would think that your green filter is similar, though I believe it is more open than the K&N is.

My only issue that I am concerned with is water intrusion, in to the open end.. We get lots of very heavy rain in Florida. So far I have not noticed any issues but I only been in the heavy rain once in crawling traffic..

Regardless of how much rain you get, there is no way--short of totally submerging both intake openings in water simultaneously--that you will get enough water in the intake to be an issue.

Yeah, you'll have much more to worry about than water entering the intake if you're in water that deep!
