Its got to be the open-ended filter - the closed-end filter should be no different sounding than stock regardless if it has higher flow. I deleted the snorkel and I can't notice a diff. in the sound driving around (good!).

Judging by the sound i dont think the open ended or a foam filter would do the same thing, merely because there is less open space inside the filter.

I canceled the K&N order on Amazon. Just place an order for a drop-in Green Filter. I may take a sound clip and post it on you tube if I like the sound of it. Hope that with the snorkel delete I see an improvement in throttle response. Thanks everyone.

It looks like the blue COBB version of the green filter is the least expensive version, but does it perform any differently?

I looked at the COBB version, wanted the COBB version, but the shipping cost was a big turn off. FSWerks is the only place that carries it, and it would of cost me 67 and some change. In the end I found one at KMJent.com for 59 with free shipping. Can't wait to get it.

Not really. I deleted my snorkel, now I am trying to decide which drop in filter to go with. Green Filter or K&N. Both are direct OEM replacements.

There is a sticky thread on it..check it out. Basically you remove a piece of the intake system and get better flow when combined with a drop-in aftermarket high-flow filter i.e. K&N.

For those of you who want to try an open-ended filter like the Buscher Green but are worried that you might not like the sound, K&N has another option with a bit more versatility:

http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...px?prod=e-9289

If you want more flow, take the cap off. If you want quieter sound or cooler intake air, install the cap. This is the filter that is included in the 57S-4000 kit available for the MK3 but, like the Green, it is a direct drop-in replacement for the stock filter.

I've installed an Outerwears prefilter on mine, and if I get into dusty situations I can just pop the cap back in for a bit more protection.

I have the green filter, I have about 2000 miles on it.. I have gotten use to the sound... It really isn't that annoying unless your getting on it.. I have the green filter with the open end, I have also done the snorkel delete.
I have been thinking about cutting and smoothing the flat end off the stock filter to cover the hole and see what the difference is.

I just did a 1200 mile trip one way, about to head back on monday, I got 40 mpg. So im pretty happy with it.
