what you need to look for is lights and stuff randomly dimming and the heater slowing down then picking back up or stoping all together and then turning back on. randomly as in it does it for a few seconds then goes back to normal for then randomly does it agian.

like i said before, each time it has happened my check engine and batt light flickered maybe 5 times about an hour before the car died, and i did check my battery, it is a newer one from last summer, top of the line, has a life time garentee on it so im not to to worried about that, just im guessing the alternator dies a few miles before cause when it shuts down, i loose heat, air, power windows locks and power sterring, thats i drive inthe left lane as much as possible whn on highway, but when the car is stopped, i cant turn it whatso ever, radio ight go for 5 minutes if im lucky,

Sounds like you have a issue with your wiring to me. My focus would shut off and turn back on or I'd loose the light and gauges but the car kept running. I went through a couple of alternators and by the time I was changing the next one my wires were cooked. I changed them out and I haven't had any problems since. I'd check the wiring from the alternator to the starter to the battery the next time your in there. Alternators shouldn't last just a year, something is causing them to go out.
