License Plate Bulbs and Housings

While washing my car yesterday, I noticed my license plate bulb housings are messed up. They are filled with moisture and the metal contacts inside are corroded. This isn't the first time this has happened. I have replaced both light housings twice now.

Does anyone else have this problem? They are about $30 from the Ford dealer.... I haven't thought about searching on amazon for 3rd party.

I have the same issue. I haven't had license plate lights for probably 6 months and never had an issue.

Same issue... used LEDs and put some Dielectric grease on the seals. Seems to be ok for about 9 + months now....on the wet west coast too!

Had the same thing happen to me, only one of the light housing was corroded. Took it to the dealer to have it replaced under warranty. The screw was tightened down too much from the factory and cracked the whole housing, causing water to fill up the lens. The Fusion, around our year, has the same light housing also.

Dorman actually makes a help product specifically for the earlier focuses.

I think when I had both of my cracked ones off, I determined it was different than ours and will not work.

Ugh...now the other side is out and corroded. Looks like another trip to the dealer.

Ford wanted $40 to replace mine! I'm gonna go check out the junk yard, what models should be able to fit my 08' focus?

Yea obviously but I doubt there will be many 08-11 at the junkyard. Hoping early models use the same housing!
