Navigation Faults-TSB 14-0037

My Nav system has been showing the arrow (Car Marker) off by a street for over a month now and with my first servicing being done today got them to work on the Nav system. First through MFT they did a master system reset from the passenger seat. In for the oil change and come back as requested an hour later. Not ready, now they are updating the system with a memory stick. Finally 2 hours and 45 minutes later I am driving away. Check the Nav and it indicates that the car is on the correct street, 3/4 of a km down the road a left turn, and within a minute the car is again one street away according to the Nav system. Back to Ford, and talk to the service Rep. he said that they followed the Ford recommended procedures and that they may have to replace the system with a new one, but ford would not let them do that without them taking the steps they already completed. too busy to go back for a couple of weeks. More to follow.
This is a great little car and this is its only problem. That being said I am very happy with the Focus Ti DCT. The Nav system is only a driving aid and for me a nice to have, I would not have got the Nav if I had ordered this car instead of buying one off the lot.

I believe that someone with a similar problem had it resolved with a replacement of the GPS module.

MFT relies on input from the GPS module to determine your exact location.

GPS module needs to be reprogrammed/replaced. Not an uncommon problem with MFT equipped with navigation. A customer with a Lincoln MKX had the same issue.

Had the exact same problem. But mine was resolved after resetting MFT. Pulled fuse 67. Assuming your dealer tried that.

Been over a month and still working great.

I had huge issues with my nav. Worked perfectly when I got it but it became completely useless after about a year. They eventually replaced my GPS module (Sept. 2013) and it was working flawlessly again - for about 3 months - and then it started degrading again. It is now back to showing me off of the road I am actually on about 50% of the time. When a road is close by it will try and snap me to that (wrong) road but if there is no road close by it will just show me driving off in the middle of nowhere, through people's backyards, woods, etc. Often I will be sitting at a red light at an intersection and according to my nav system I am actually up about 100 yards past the cross road I am sitting at.

At this point I have pretty much given up on ever having a properly working nav system (and as such have given up on Ford as well). I have spent too much time in loaners (which fortunately my dealership offers) over the past 2 1/2 years while I got things like MFT reflashes, APIM replacements, GPS module replacements done all of which end up either not fixing or only temporarily fixing issues. Way too much time without my car for me to ever consider another Ford again. Shame because I still love the way the car looks and love the way it handles but then again there are others out there that make nice looking, nice handling cars.

Hopefully you have better luck than me with getting your nav system fixed.

There is a TSB for the nav routing off course. I had this TSB update for that concern and has worked flawlessly since.

At least when mine goes wonky it does keep on the road and not through peoples backyards.

Good news, had TSB 14-0037 done today and all is good. The indicator never left the road and properly indicated the cars position.

Moved to the TSB area and re-titled to include the TSB number for those that may search for it in the future.

quick question. Did everyone get this problem when switching from the 18inch rims to 15inch winter rims?
