Had a friend with an 85 Capri, same thing as a foxbody. Bone stock with over 300k miles and on rotted tires, it ran a 14.7.

Not sure what to tell you.

Probably had the optional 3.08 final drive. This was an option on a few Mustangs as well and could be the reason a few people claim high 14s.

I should rephrase; A 95 or older 5.0 Mustang with the standard 2.73 final drive will not run faster than 15s.

The difference between a 3.08 and 2.73 is pretty minimal. I'm guessing it's possible for a 2.73 car to creep into the 14's, though I doubt it's terribly common.
