Japan cant make cars that pass over a certin amount of horse power. that might have changed but it was like that in the 90's.

I dont know why you replyed to this, This was my opinion and you try picking it apart.
Im sure you have opinions that make no sense to someone else, but im glad you justified your point, now you can proceed with your day
Spec V weigh 2500 lbs ? LOL, no. Try right over 3000lbs, even a base model Sentra weight a couple hundred lbs more than a Focus. At least that's an '09 to '09 Comparison.

Oh, the older SHO. Yeah, those things were pretty quick.

The gentlemens agreement ended a long time ago, hence why you now see 500hp GTRs and LFAs. They used to be rated at 276hp, even though cars like the GT-R and Supra made more than that.

I replied in regards to the things you were wrong about, like mustangs being OHC for almost 20 years now and not being overweight for their class(looking at you Challenger), also saying OHV are underpowered when GM is making anywhere from 400-600hp with their small block V8. The one subjective thing you posted about was exhaust noise, and yes I do think a V8 sounds much better than a 4cyl.

I dont think ill ever buy ohv. there under powered stock. my mother had a grand am v6 and that thing was slow and not exciting to drive at all.
Ford Taurus had dohc and that thing is fast! Japanese make engines that perform better.
the sound of a 4 cylinder screaming vs a v8 muscel car screaming.
ill take the 4 cylinder any day of the weak.

Just my opinion :)
How are muscle cars "over weight?" My 2008 and 2012 Mustang were just shy of 3,400 lbs. It may be worth noting that an EVo, STI, 350z/370z and even the current Focus ST are all part of the 3,200-3,500 lb club.

A motor being OHV or OHC really doesn't determine if they're powerful or not. Both designs have been around for over 100 years. The first OHC goes back to 1912. OHV's are still used famously in GM's lineup of LS motors. They all make fantastic power, are compact and relatively light. So light, that people swap them into everything from RX7's to Miatas.

It's likely that even a full-size Chevy truck with an LS motor will probably outrun your car.

My favorite engine sound is a V6.
Turbo V6 even better.

No, a stock Duratec Taurus is slower than my Focus. I beat my friends Duratec Sable.
I think he was talking about the Taurus SHO. First gen 5 speed to be exact which could do 0-60 in 6.6 stock! I have owned two :)

LS Motors suck, the power to weight truly is not that great and they all sound like a dumb Tahoe or Yukon in my opinion. Only good thing about any of the LS motors is the the price and how cheap they are to build. Now a Ford 5.3 or 5.0 sounds like a beast! Not to mention the 5.0 makes 420 HP as opposed to the overrated LS3 6.2 436 hp. LS motors are overrated bigtime

I mean my Mustang ran low 5's stock, not every Mustang owner is an ass.

Also you drove a V6 Grand Am. I don't think many people think of a Focus as a car to build, but I really think its awesome that you went out of the orginal.

BTW the 6 second comment on a 94 Mustang V8? Here is a low 5's run with just an exhaust on a 94 with 169K miles (My old Stang). The new Mustangs also make a ton more power then the 4.6L which couldn't even keep up with the LT1 Camaro.

I love the thread, MAC what sea level are you at? I put down low 16's at a local track here bone stock auto.

Well, at whatever Kansas elevation is, my phone says I ran approx 16.5 on a non-prepped surface with OE tires.

Take it however you want it.
