that is exactly what i planned on doing was to flare the hardline
and yes our SS line has a plastic/rubber or polymer core

Still going to try and fit a cooler? You really don't need it as there is nothing to cool. If you could spin the pump without running the motor. you could literally hold the high pressure line in your hand as the steering was vigorously excersized(sp?). I mean, how much pressure is produced? 100 - 150lbs? P.S. is your car your avatar?
