Charging system issue
I'm having a similar charging issue as addressed in other threads regarding the alternator pigtail. Exterior and interior lighting pulsing at low rpms. Battery light had never came on, alternator tests at 75+ amps/14.5V at idle, battery tests good at 810cca's. I've replaced the pigtail with Borg Warner part number PT5751, no change, added engine to battery grounds, and an alternator case to battery ground, still no change.
Just replaced Borg Warner pigtail with ford part. Initial test of alternator showed 100+amps at idle. Reset pcm, re-fired and now shows 14.5v 60amps at idle, but now the battery light is on. While coming to a stop it stalled twice, but now runs ok. |

Hmmm
Turn the function on your multimeter to AC Volts You should read zero If your multimeter shows a voltage then with the same multimeter setting test another car's battery while that car is running This will eliminate a weird multimeter If there is real AC volts then a diode is bad in your alternator As usual inspect your battery cables closely, then grab each one and try to twist the battery clamp sideways must NOT move |

Used our Autometer load tester here at work. Says diodes are good. All connections tight and clean. Voltage and amperage is right on. Do our cars have a load detector?

Drove home tonight, no more pulsating lights, voltage, as displayed by my radar detector stayed in the low-mid 14's. Engine off voltage 12.8. Battery light still on. Stumped...
