Code Scanner

Does anyone know if a basic code scanner will read the obd "B" codes? I have a seat belt/air bag issue and am looking for a specific B code. Or, do I need a special tool to scanner for that? Thanks

The 1st mistake that ppl tend to make is not knowing the difference in a Scanner and a READER. I use this one and has work flawlessly on every vehicle thus far.
