Rough cold starts after alternator rebuild

Well ever since I had my alternator rebuilt and put back together, my car has a hard time cranking over. It almost starts on first turn as it used to but then now it doesn't start a d I have to keep cranking and I have to hold the gas pedal down. I wonder if it has to do with me resetting my battery/ECU but I've done that many times already.

It's been cold too and that doesn't help but started fine in the colder days. Usually starts right up if I plug in the engine block heater the night before.

After reading that Jason replaced his battery terminals, I'm think that may help? The wires going into terminals looks weak and I have a pipe clamp holding the negative terminally since that bolt broke(guess that's common from what I've read.)

If not I'm thinking I'll just buy the new ones from Steve.

You can diagnose terminal clamp issues with a $5 multimeter, put one lead on the terminal itself and another on some part of the corresponding clamp, whatever voltage it reads is the loss between the two parts. If it's close to zero there's no voltage loss and it's a good connection, if it's anything substantial you need to clean all the surfaces up and test again.

I'd also be curious about the new alternator output, you could monitor it with a cheap voltmeter or the odometer test mode.

How long is it taking to crank before catching, hows the idle once it's started?
