good luck with the billet gear. ive been on a call list for quite awhile now. i ended up starting my build without it... only other option for overcoming the oil pump issue is dry sump. i doubt there will be anymore billet gears for sale unless they are used in the future and in that case you will have to beat me to it

Is the billet gear the same size/dimensions as stock? I have some CNC friends that may be able to help...maybe.

im pretty sure its the same dimension but i would speak with someone who has alot of experience handling them like someone from cfm. i personally wouldnt trust a cnc friend though. there are some pretty high tolerances that have to be kept in mind when making these which is why cfm doesnt have anymore. the company that made the batch that they were selling for the longest time stopped making them so they had to go with another company when they ran out. when they tested the batch from the new company they didnt pan out in testing. i assume that they didnt hold together very well or something and they have been struggling to find a company to do it.

im not saying that your cnc friends arent a viable option. im just saying that i wouldnt go with one unless the company it came from was willing to back their product with a warranty that will pay for damage if their product catastrophically fails like cfm did.

my knowledge on the matter stops there. if you want to put questions to someone for more specific details on the topic of a billet gear you should get cfm on the phone today. they are very helpful people and im sure would be happy to help you out however they can.

With proper specs, I'm confident my buddy could cut it, but I'm not sure it would be cost effective. His current shop isn't real friendly about using company time/materials for personal projects.

It was just a thought anyway. My plan for now is to stick to a 7200 RPM limit, and I guess just hope the gear is available when I do the build a year or so from now...or I could go dry sump?

$300 for an oil pump gear isn't exactly cheap, especially when it can't be found.

This is all hypothetical. This is going to turn into my project car...I'm just looking down the road.

I just installed my cat cams. If they say aftermarket springs, get them. It took me three days to figure out my stock springs were binding and not allowing the cams to rotate all the way. As soon as I swapped to the Pac springs everything went as it should have.

So...? First impressions?

Also, where did you get your springs?
