SVT Resurrection

A few weeks back a friend of mine told me he had been in an accident with his SVTF. He was looking to buy a replacement and was asking me for help in transporting the new one home. I asked, more importantly... what's the story with the old one? Skipping the details of a long story, I was able to rescue it from the junkyard and am getting it back to driveable condition ASAP. Here are the first few pics I received... apparently the Impala attempting to pass him lost control and plowed him into the concrete barrier.

I can't type the extreme number of explitives I would have been yelling at that impala owner if that were my SVT. that got pretty banged up...but def. saveable if the front frame rails didnt budge in the impact.

Replaced front suspension parts with new as the old stuff took a few tweaks, new control arms, tierods, and sway bar end links, then on to the body... decided it would be best to have another complete car to work off of so I scored a ZX3 cheap locally with a BAD motor knock! Here's the parts car...

The dissection of the SVT, I was glad to see everything structural was very straight as it was mostly just bruised from both sides but no hard front end impact...

Getting back together, not all SVT parts yet, but it will be...

And the fun piece for install...

That part may be a little bit before I dig into replacing it. Next step is new tires on the SVT wheels, alignment, and get it on the road and drive it a little.

I didn't realize you were in Rochester. I'm home for a week on break and wouldn't mind lending a hand as well. I've never done body work, just engine stuffs, but more help never hurt anyone.

Congrats man. Thanks for your efforts to rescue and resurrect one of a dying breed, you won't regret it. I'm sure your friend has told you the mechanical history of the car, and that the car has a good (relatively new) timing belt assy. Welcome to FF! I look forward to continuing updates on your progress. You are very fortunate to have help from hurtinfocus, he's a wizard with body work.
