P0750 Solenoid A Issue- how long will I be able to drive?

Check engine light came on and went to Auto Zone to have it checked out. Was told Solenoid A is malfunctioning. With the solenoid being either open or has a short. I can drive ok, reverse is working. I believe the issue is on the highway going from 3rd to 4th gear. I was on a trip earlier this month, 500 miles round trip and there were a LOT of hills on cruise control I think I might have worn something out on the trip, miles just hit 160,000.

Is this something I can still drive a few hundred miles before replacing or is this a pending disaster on my hands? They wouldn't reset my check engine light, said only at a dealer.

I'm thinking of getting transmission fluid changed and new filter and replacing the A one per the diagnostic but I'd hope this can wait till the weekend since this just happened tonight I can't take off work since everyone else is out for spring break.

Are you having shifting issues? If no it may have been a momentary glitch unplug your battery for a few moments and the CEL may go away. If you are I would fix the issue very soon. You may wind up killing the whole tranny over a $100.00 part.

Good call, I've left it park since I was lucky enough to get alternate transportation last minute. I think I'll order the part online and hopefully it's here Friday for me to mess with. Anyone else have this issue before? Is it best to replace all of them at once or just as they have trouble? I did one final test drive last night for 2 miles with no shifting issues at all. Hate to trade it in, had it about 8 years now with only a few headaches.
