06 Focus no start problem

My 2006 Focus ZX4 will not start.I have tried 3 different keys. Keys turn in ignition, but in start position, nothing happens. I have checked the starter, all fuses, starter and ignition relays, transmission gear indicator, battery and I have replaced the ingition switch. The starter will engage if I bypass the starter relay, but still no start. PATS light does not flash when trying to start. Code scanner cannot connect to PCM.

Any suggestions?

Also, have you checked all the fuses? There is a fuse for the ECU in the fuse box under the hood of the car. The owner's manual has descriptions and location information for the fuses, so look there to guide yourself. I think it is a 10 amp fuse. If it is blown, before you replace it, you need to check something under the hood. On the front of the engine there is a small black box with one wire going to it, and one wire coming out and to a grounding location nearby. If the wire going into the box is frayed, loose, or disconnected and grounding out nearby it will blow that fuse. Then the car won't start. If this is the case, then tape the incoming wire up so it won't short out, replace the ECU fuse with a same size fuse, and then purchase a new Radio Interference Capacitor at your local Ford dealer.

I don't know if the 06 is different from the 08. My daughters trouble was in the steering column. To diagnose it remove the starter switch from the steering column but leave the wires plugged into it. Put the key in the ignition switch and turn it to the "run" position.

Use a flat head screw driver and put it into the slot of the starter switch and turn it all the way as if you were using the key. If the car starts your trouble is in the steering column betweer the starter switch and the key ignition switch.

When my odometer showed what yours is showing my Ecu had been erased. I had to have mine towed to the dealership and the Ecu reflashed. But mine was from a tuning issue. When I get home I can look in my Haynes manual and maybe give you an idea of what to look for.

Sorry for the late response , I've been looking all over the Haynes manual and can not find anything related to your problem . The only thing that I can think of is that it has something to do with your PATS . Do you have an extra key just to try out and see if you get the same results?

PATS light does not flash when trying to start. I have tried three different keys.
I think tomorrow I'll remove PCM and see if it looks bad

Removed PCM but couldn't tell if it is bad. Ordered a replacement with keys. Will update after installation.
