Automatic...killed it like a manual

I don't know the exact terminology but when I shifted into drive the other day and pressed on the gas...the car died like a manual would. I am the only one I know or anyone who I know would know that has done this...have any of you done this? Car started just fine after that...so my guess is just a freak accident.

It sounds like the idle air control valve wasn't doing it's job at that very second. You can remove it and clean it, but it's not an easy job. On your car it's located underneath the intake manifold, so you have to remove the air box and battery. Then reach under the intake, find the IAC, remove it's 2 bolts, and remove it. You can clean it with any carb cleaner, then reinstall.

If it screws up, you'll have issues with the car not maintaining an idle at stoplights, or when you turn the AC on.

You can also reach it from underneath with out removing anything. But it's a reach and you have to feel for the top bolt. They are 8mm by the way and don't need to be tight at all just snug since they are basically screws that screw into the plastic manifold.
