Cams, cam gears, new valves and retainers, machine shop work, gaskets, and if your having them install everything then add labor on top. That's how I got 1500$ :P. was not aware your not going to need to accommodate for lift. GL with the build, hope it turns out how you want it to!

I'm still debating things in my mind.

Right now I'm leaning toward grind 2291013 (supposed to be safe with stock vale train and retains VCT) combined with the exhaust cam gear, a Zetec head gasket and a milled head.

iminhell - I haven't had a chance to read your whole thread yet, but I noticed you're running E85. A friend asked me if this was big in the Focus world (he's a Honda guy), and I told him that I hadn't heard of an N/A build that uses it yet.

I've been on Corn for a few years now. Actually both cars are on Corn now, the other is just stock with SRI and exhaust.

I'm happy with it. Still have a few things to add to the tune, EVAP stuff, but for the most parts I feel it's real easy to tune. I'm using PRP and have done both my tunes myself. Nothing's blown up yet.

And if people come up with the 'ya but your loose MPG's' line, you just reply with 'sure, but my cost per mile is less then you still'. Right now I'm paying $2.69/gallon. Subsidized or not, it's local made fuel, renewable and you can make more power with it if done right vs Gasoline (race fuel included).
But keep in mind that you don't want to switch if your fueling locations are slim. In my area every Cenex has it, the local station I can pick my mix, E-85, E-50, E-35. I'd love to see E-98 at the pump ... should actually ask them if I can buy a drum.
I know when I was out WI way earlier this year we had trouble finding stations off 94. But we didn't plan too much anyways, spur of the moment trip/tuning session.

E85 will not make more power / energy then gasoline , it takes 30% +/- more in volume and it makes less power/energy , dont even get me started on its lower octanes lol

It would be a hugh mistake in my opinion to go to the ZX3 head gasket and surface the head on 93 octane fuel

Well, the E85 argument aside (I'm not really planning on doing it...just a curiosity of mine - but I really don't see a way to argue with its success in the F/I world -- at least from what I've seen on Hondas and Subarus), why do you say that upping the compression is a bad idea? To my knowledge, 10.2:1 isn't exactly at the limit of premium pump gas - hell, there are plenty of cars running beyond that from the factory. From what I know about N/A engines, isn't more compression one of the primary ways to make more power?

Higher compression is the #1 factor in make HP/TQ , yes there are many engines that have much higher compression and run on 93 but none of them are the Zetec engine

Wow.. If I didnt know how to tune I would admit it , tuning E85 is no differant then tuning 87 or 115 octane , the problem is its lack of and changing octane , you cannot tune for that regardless of how good or bad a tuner you are
