Newbie here! :)

Good afternoon to all, my name is James and ive been drawn here to geek it up and get help on my new(old) car.

I last week purchased this ford focus and ive already had trouble :( boo!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I love the car though, the power actually shocked me to start with but its fuel consumption has caused me to drive steady!

Yesterday i changed the water pump which wasnt bloody easy but the pump was 20 brand new so it was cheap enough, today ive changed the resistor module for the blower as it only worked on 4 :\ need a new window motor and i could do with a haynes manual too. Enjoying doing bits of work to it and ive given it a service too.

So far ive had these parts bought for it:

Resistor Module (blowers)
Oil, and air filter
Oil
Spark Plugs
Water Pump
Rear View mirror
Number Plate
Alternator Belt
Coolant

Needed (optional)
Fuel filter
Couple of wing mirrors
Boot struts
Window motor (driver side)
Couple of center caps
Front bumper splitter
passenger side chair wheel (backrest alteration not possible atm)

The car has a few pumps and quite a bit of scratching but i got the car at quite a bargain price so im willing to put a bit into this to make it look and drive nicely.

Looking forward to doing it :) going to save up for an ST170 though as after driving this i know that i want that car!

But yeah quite happy :)

Since your in the UK, which engine do you have on your car? and gas or diesel? You guys have so many more choices than we do in respect to engines.

Haha i am, i have a 1.8l Zetec engine, its an MP3 model (still not too sure of what this is about, something to do with stereo compatability)

Its Petrol which i assume is gas to you? Unleaded.. its not diesel anyway.

What engines do you have over there? Why do we have so much more choice?

All of ours are 2.0L or 2.3L and they are all petrol, we have never had a diesel option.

read about our different models here:

pretty much the same car from '00-'07 and they looked similar to your first gens but after that, we had different cars than you until the new 2013's came out (your models looking and performing better )

Also, i thought your MP3 models came with a specific set of alloys:

From what i can see in those images you actually have different shapes too, the models seem to be have released later then ours, you have the mk1 focus going right up until 2007 where as we stopped registering them in 05 iirc, our haynes manuals go from 98-01 and 01-05 for the facelift version.

As for the alloys im not entirely sure whats going on there, maybe youre right although the alloys i have may have been an optional extra, although these alloys also suit the Ghia model that Ford sold in the UK. Ideally i want the ST170 model 171bhp (iirc) this car was a px so i got it quite cheap, just the odd bit wrong with it that im having to sort out. My mums got one of these and has had hers for over 7 years and a guy i work with has one too and has had his for over 5 years. Very reliable cars.

Thank you for the link, ive read a bit of that so far but im going to read it all, very interesting.

Quick research indicates that my model should have those alloys but i recon they were sold and replaced with the set ive got on now as mine are cheaper, those alloys retail from 150 each brand new! Mine are alot less haha.
