air filter questions

hey guys, im workin on a 2006 focus 2.0 zx5
im lookin at putting a short ram air on it and ive been reading about the stealth CAI and it seems like a good idea, however i really wanted to get rid of the air silencer box but theres a hose coming out of it i have no idea what its for. I took this picture off of blazingcopperzx3 website, dont have a good camera right now. hoping someone can tell me what its for. it goes from the air silencer box to a radiator hose.

My '05 2.3 has just the nipple, but no hose. I had a Steeda SRI on the car until recently, and the Steeda has no provision for the hose you describe. Is yours a PZEV?

not sure i checked using my vin code and it says nothing about the pzec

also i did a little more searching around the hose goes from the nipple on air box to a radiator hose right by the driver side of the radiator, the radiator hose then goes to the engine block right by the battery then goes out the block to the passenger side firewall

just took hose off and it has coolant running through it..... does anyone one know what the coolant would be going through the air resonator/silencer for?

Did you do the stealth CAI yet? I don't think I'm understanding how you could get rid of the box though b/c that is what connects the cone air filter right? And do you know what it means when the other guy here said he removed the sound resonator? I'm going to be doing this mod next weekend. Have air filter and waterproof screen on order. Finally, what filter did you use?

no i dont wanna do the stealth CAI because of water and what not, i just dont like the idea.
The sound air resonator box is whats in between the throttle body and the air fiter, however my resonator has a coolant hose going to it, Im wondering what that hose does?? And if i can remove it?

I havent done anything to my intake yet, my next step is to buy a new radaitor hose without the hose connected to the resonator box and see if my car runs

If you can safely remove that coolant hose, another option for custom intakes is the short ram , where you basically put the maf tube onto the throttle body boot , and stick the filter on the end of the maf tube . Its fairly simple and when i did it i saw similar gains that were given by the stealth cai
