I did something similar. It has to do more with the filter than the plumbing. I made my CAI with aluminum I had at home, painted it to desired color, and added an AEM filter. Works perfectly fine...

Yeah all I did was add a filter to the stock setup Useing the MAF, that I unscrewed from the stock intake box put put it on the lip of that and called it a day with that
