Suspension Install questions

Ok, I'm new to the suspension world so bare with me. I have a h&r cup kit that I would like to install during spring break but I have a couple of questions.

First off will I need anything more than camber bolts to take care of adjustment? I know that the cup kit is a fairly extreme drop (2.5-2.75 inches) and I would like my tires to last an long as possible.

Second, can I reuse the top hats and bearings from my stock struts? They have about 100,000 miles on them (don't know how much difference that makes).

Also any installation tips would be greatly appreciated

Well, just have the right tools for the job is my tip.

You will need some sort of Spring compressor, long 19mm and a set of extra hands would be helpful. Since you are new to it.

Camber bolts help adjusting the camber, but no more than a degree of negative or positive. The alignment places you go to will be able to help you more.

As long as you get a good alignment, don't run over the bumps and nipples in the road to often, your tires will last long and fine. Oh and don't over do the high speed turns. Being low, better turnability, faster feel to turn.

And yes, you can reuse the top hats of your front struts, but if your kit comes with a new set, why bother with older ones, even if they haven't been used to often.

Might as well just keep those on hand for a just in case I need it moment.

Good luck with you install if you haven't already done it.

I got the kit used so the the stock ones are the only one I have. I'm pretty sure that I can rent a spring compressor from one of the local parts stores.

I'm not sure up there. Where ever you go make them set your front toe at 0 & the rear at 0.07- 0.10 per side. They should set the rear toe first then the front & make sure they set your wheel straight also. I hate crooked wheels.

Well I got everything installed two weekends ago and I am very happy with the result. The ride is definitely stiffer but not bad at all and the car corners much better.

Before:

After:

I do have another question though. There is a guy selling a 24mm h&r rear sway bar locally, is that to big of a jump from the stock bar? I've heard of larger sway bars braking LCAs, is that something I would have to worry about if I got this one. Also would the front bar have to be upgraded as well to keep the car balanced?

That 24mm rear bar would be a great upgrade. your car looks great, just need to clean up your wheels.

Thanks! I didn't clear coat my wheels when I painted them and that was a mistake, I need to give the another coat of color and clear to make them look right.
