Not sure if there is the difference with the Canadian and US Ti...
My best friend bought his '12 SEL 9 days before I bought my '12 Ti. I'm not 100% sure about the springs but the Ti does have different valving, considered Touring. Differences between our two cars aside from options were that my Ti can use FlexFuel, 17" rims and slightly stiff shocks/struts.

Side note: I'm not sure south of the border, but summer tires here typically do NOT have a treadwear warranty! I ran into this when I had bought summer tires from Costco and my rears (Mazdaspeed 6) were nearly bare after 4 months. Got a deal on really good All-Seasons as they have a treadwear warranty.

So yes, would have been nice to have a Ti with the Ti handling package but:
1. Save a bit on gas
2. enjoying a more touring, comfortable ride
3. treadwear warranty!
4. When I have to replace the tires, there is huuuuuge price difference here between my 17's and the lower profile 18's.

So aside from the tires, you do get the upgraded springs, shocks/struts and an upgraded rear sway bar.

Good point, the Ti has sporty suspension even before you go with the 18" wheels and upgraded handling package. The base suspension on the Ti is a good compromise between the softer suspension on the S, SE, SEL and the Ti with handling package. I think the suspension is just about right...
