Talked with Yakima on the drive between the office and school. They said there was a bad batch of Q5 clips that got out and mine might have been one. Linda was the lady I spoke to there and she explained that if the clips fit then they are fine. The only problem was the bad one wont physically fit into the towers. No big deal or safety issue.

Good communication all around. Kudos to both Yakima and Amazon!
Sweet!

Exclamation St wing!

I forgot to snap a picture today but - if you have the ST wing it's likely that your bike will not fit on the rack without making contact with the wing.

I have a small frame 26 mountain bike and there is contact. all. day.

Warning: If you have a roof rack like the one below and drive REAL FAST! the rubber strips on top will come off and you will lose them. It is noisy without them.

What are you talking about?

I was sans trays for 2 weeks and was over 70mph on the freeway. They did not go anywhere.

So you were travelling excessively fast and you decided to issue a blanket statement about losing parts. Thanks.

I changed the wording, Is this better for you I'm just trying to provide some helpful info. had I know, this would not have happened. And until I get a replacement it is very noisy when driving on the freeway.

The Handles are mounted through the top of the car in the spot where the black track sits.

and car toppers. The car can be reverted back to stock if need be :)
I assume that there are no factory mounts under that roof trim. I also assume that you had to drill through the roof for this install.

Did you need to remove the headliner in the interior? What type of fasteners did you use? Thanks!

Thought I'd throw this in here. I'm using Sportrack racks with E2 brackets and they work fine. I know Sportrack recommends E3 brackets, but I had the E2 already from my previous car so I used them. I don't leave them on the car, and I put masking tape under the feet to protect the paint and I've never had an issue hauling a 70 pound kayak around.
