You should have done it a long time ago. At the first 1-2k miles. As some people have posted their oil analyses already, engines are high in metals, silicone, etc for the first few oil changes.

its your call, some people do early changes and others later.

I myself did my first oil change at 1,500 miles, then again at 5k miles. I am using a 5k interval.

I did my first at 1,200 then 5k and have religiously continued with the 5k interval. It only makes sense since you're supposed to rotate your tires every 5,000 miles as well.

So you guys are recommending not to wait for the car to tell us when to get the oil change? I thought the intelligent oil system was suppose to notify us when it needs a changing.

Don't let these jokers convince you that you need to change your oil at 1500 miles. Had mine changed at 5k. Most cars today don't need oil changed until 7-10k but I feel more comfortable with 5. I don't think the oil life monitor goes off until 10k in our cars.

This. I did mine around 6K.
Check the maintenance schedule, there's no 500 mile or other early change listed.

On rebuiult mototrs the general thinking is change it around 1000 and then again at 5k then conitnue at regualr intervals but on new cars it's not needed very early but I could see doing a 3000 mile early change just for piece of mind. I didn't have a concern and Ford changed mine at 5000 and will continue with that schedule since Ford is paying for them for the next couple of years.
