Aftermarket Wipers?

I seem to be going through a new set of wiper blades every three months on my 2012 Focus, in typical use. Not doing any of the obvious bad things, using them on a very dirty windshield, running them on a dry windshield, etc. So, three questions-- any thoughts as to why such short life, where is a good place to buy the blades with the proprietary clip to attach to the wiper arms, and is the any way to use blades that attach "normally"?

Thanks for the help!

You can get Rain-X blades in 28".
I would try cleaning your windshield with a clay bar and I would periodically clean your blades with rubing alcohol soaked on a cotton ball.

Weird. My OEM blades that came with the car lasted 9 months, and even when I changed them they still cleaned the windshield nicely. Right now I have my second pair of OEM blades since October, and they are going strong too.

I bought my car in July of 2011 and still have the original blades. Though, it's about that time now...

I prefer Bosch Icon blades, they last 2-3 years.

Just hit 1 year and still running the original blades. Still cleans extremely well, with the obvious exception of when there's major snow/ice build up on the windshield. My next pair will be the Bosch Icons though, used them on my last car and they run forever

I finally needed wiper blades on my April 2011 build date car. They were getting a little streaky. I went to Auto Zone and they did not have a replacement. I ordered Motorcraft 28" blades from Rock Auto said to fit but did not have the adapter/mount. I got my oil changed at Firestone Thursday and they called the Ford dealer who sent the correct sided ones over.

I like the windshield and the wiper set up (two big blades, 2 seperate motors, great swept area + good visibility) but it seems the correct parts aren't main stream yet. I believe there is a thread on "Get the Right Wiper Blades" on here.
