Aftermarket ST exhaust on SE??
Hey guys so I'm wondering if a cat-back aftermarket exhaust for an ST would fit on an SE hatch?
Obviously the outlets are in a different place and would need a little work ( or an ST valiance) but how about the path it takes and hanger points? not sure how different the ST and non-ST models are underneath. Here is the cat-back in question. http://www.millteksport.com/exhaust....0#.UTY3bGbTm70 I love the sound of Milltek exhaust systems. The best imo. obviously the motors themselves will sounds different but still, if it fits, I think it would sound good. Sound clip: http://youtu.be/W3opvVwennU They are well made, full SS, and everything is fab'd from scratch. Quaility stuff. The main reason I like their stuff is they shoot for an aggressive BUT not too loud sound. |

All of the hangar locations and routing are the same. The milltek exhaust sounds great, It'll be interesting to hear what it sounds like on an NA focus!

Well I emailed them and they said there's no plans to make a non-ST system.
I'm waiting to hear back what they think about the ST system on my SE. My main concern is the pipe diameter is 3" vs the 2.25" stock diameter or the common 2.5" aftermarket. Anyone think it'll hurt the torque by goin 3"? |

well they said they wouldn't recommend going over 2.5" on a 2.0L non-turbo.
bummer....man wish I could find something that sounds as good. maybe Borla? sigh. |

I have seen in this and other exhaust threads refer to the the stock Mk III exhaust diameter as 2.25." I have checked mine several times and the pipe leading to the final muffler or "lunchbox" is 2" outside diameter. Am I wrong or does it go down to 2.00" at the end?
My current "lunch box delete" plan is to cut the pipe right before it and attach a 45 degree elbow with a resonator tip. |

Stock non-ST is only 2"
Aftermarket are 2.25 or 2.5"

I see. Well even more reason 3" is probably too much with a stock motor lol.
What is a "resonator tip"?? |

Suss you always seem to have great info. I always feel like I am learning even if the things you talk about are so simple to you. Thanks boss.

0.02TE=suss6052;4621766]Its an exhaust tip with a resonator built inside of it to help change the exhaust tone.
[/QUOTE]Suss, do you think a resonator would help eliminate the droning sound I hear upon startup, when it's just warming up? I also suspect a better RMM would help with vibrations at idle. |
