Knock sound from start

Hi everybody
I just bought a 2005 focus with 80,000+ miles and am very happy with it. However over the last few days , from stop, there is a knock sound on depressing the accelerator pedal . There is no similar sound once the car is moving and the pedal is subsequently depressed. It only happens from start. When the engine is off, depressing the pedal does not cause the sound.
I would appreciate suggestions on how to remedy this.

Is it really a knock or is it more like a tick?
A video would be nice to have so we can hear what is actually going on.

Auto or Manual?

If in nuetral, does it make the knocking sound when gassing it? Is the sound just one knock or several? Does it create a vibration in the shifter? Does it only happen when the car starts to move?,...if so it might be a bad axle-shaft.

It's just one knock and that's it.
Neutral , same one knock.
On the move, it disappears. Only when from total stop.
Only when the gas pedal is stepped.

I closed your other thread you made about this, no reason to have two. It's most likely your lower dog bone motor mount.

Yeah probably motor mount

I agree with SleepyBoy that it is probably motor-mount related. If you can have another person gas-it in neutral while you observe the engine with the hood open,..watch the engine and see if it visibly shifts. You can also actually grab the engine maybe on the valve cover when it is shut off and try to shake the engine. It can possibly tell you how loose it is. SO just to make it clear,..you say if you are parked and start the car you won't hear the knock sound until you press the accelerator where it only knocks ONCE and any more presses of the accelerator creates NO MORE KNOCKS?

Well probably not serious

I don't think it is an internal engine issue. Certainly bizzare in my opinion that you get ONE pronounced knock sound upon depressing the accelerator for the first time after starting up the engine with or without the car in gear!? So if you shut off the car and start it back up, then press the accelerator, it does it again,..just once? I would say its got to be an engine mount that is bad. The engine moves to the point where a metal-to-metal contact is heard. Good Luck! BTW my wife is from Singapore,..been married 25 years now!

If you have an automatic put the car in gear, press the brake and accelerate to about 1500rpm for five seconds, and see if the noise comes back, its pretty much like shaking the engine just more conclusive in my opinion on whether or not a motor mount is going bad/is bad
