Anyone with (vintage) Honda (parts) experience?
I'm looking for some sources for hard-to-find parts. My grandfather recently passed away, and it looks like I will acquire the ol' beater Honda that no one else wants. I learned to drive stick in this car and it has sentimental value, so I would like to at least fix it up a bit. As you will see from the pictures, this car has seriously seen better days.
So far I've come across: http://www.civicdutyparts.com/index-2.html http://www.hondapartsnow.com/ http://www.vpartsinc.com/ And of course I can scour local wrecking yards; but this car is reaching an age where most of them are long gone. So, if anyone knows any sources of parts or information, please feel free to share them! Thanks. ![]() ![]()

I've used the local pick 'n' pull junkyards and salvage yards to source cheap parts and keep mine on the road (much to "it's" chagrin!).
USAutoparts.net and RockAuto.com are also pretty good places to trawl for parts as well.

Thanks for the info guys. It's a 1986 Civic Si. In the 2nd picture you can see Grandpa's sense of humor... the "H" fell off the nose and he screwed on an air freshener in its place.
I might be picking it this weekend, so I'm getting started on compiling some resources for parts and stuff. When Grandma died, I saved the 1984 B2000 (that's where my screen name came from) and got lots of use out of that until we gave it to another family member. I'd like to get some "beater" use out of this guy so I don't have to sneak drives in the work van.

King of all blacks!!

Wow, Civics of that vintage are rare(and the parts to go with it). IIRC with those models the engines required a valve adjustment every 15K miles.

I'm not fired yet, no.
![]() I dunno about the valve adjustments. The Si was the only Civic at the time to have fuel injection, so it's not the exact same engine as the carb'ed models. I'll have to invest in some service manuals for sure. Posted via FF Mobile |

And the parts are rare. The interior panels are basically non-existent; I'm considering just leaving it a bare shell inside, since the whole car sat outside for so long the plastic is faded and extremely brittle. Scrubbing it with a brush to try to get the dirt off actually scrubbed the plastic off! At least with no interior I can sort of play it off as "because race car" I guess.

Did you try a large used parts company like LKQ to try and find some parts? If not you might have some luck there. Hopefully you can find a solid source!
