** ignition problems **

i have a 2008 ford focus ses automatic and been having problems with my ignition. the problem i am having is when i put the key in the ignition to start it , usually u can just turn the keys easliy and start it , well now when u go to turn it , it turns good but u have to push inwards really hard while turning it to start it. Its been doin this for a while now . i just changed out and put a new igntion switch (the electic part on the left side of steering wheel) so its either the actually tumbler or the part that goes across the steering while that connects the tumbler and igntion switch. has anyone had this problem yet

You almost found the problem. I just did the same thing last week. Go to this link. It will tell you how to repair the problem.

To diagnose, remove the ignition switch you replaced but leave the wires attached. Then turn the key to the run position. Put a screw driver into the small slot in the ignition switch and turn it all the way. It is spring loaded so make sure you turn it far enough. The engine should start. Your old ignition switch was OK. The new ignition switch is OK. And when you buy the steering column part from Ford it will come with another ignotion switch installed. I was able to return the new ignition switch I bought from Auto Zone and saved myself the $43 but the new part you will need will cost about $150 from Ford.
