Fixed my drivers side door handle. (Part shown here:) http://focus.c-f-m.com/ford-door-han...cus-02-07.aspx

To make a long story short, my car was involved in a hit and run in February 2013.
$4500 worth of damage to the driver side.... wiped out the whole side.
Fender, Front Door, Rear Door, Rear Quarter Panel, Rear Tire, Rear Rim, and Bumper.
whew... I found the fella that did it, and took pics of the damage on his car, and sent in more pics of my car.... He finally fessed up after a week. (Justice prevails!)
Now... On to the door handle... be it ever so slight... and over looked.
There is a white nylon stub of sort that slides in the inner door assembly shown in link posted above. Well? It must have cracked under pressure and stress of the accident.
The only two things that were salvageable to my drivers side was the door handle and mirror. (I have a Red '05 ST 5sd 2.3l and I LOVE IT!)
So, after a month or so of opening the door, it finally broke completely, leaving my door handle sprung outward, not to return to its original position.
Frustrated after a month of sporadic messing with the handle... I decided to take the panel off, and have a peek inside. I couldn't see anything broken.
Today, I was waiting to have a meeting with my boss, and I decided to take the panel off again... yes, in a parking lot 100 miles from home... (I had time to spare and my door handle sprung again).
I couldn't get it un-sprung. My boss shows up, and asked "whats up?"
I showed him... we both fussed over the door... he noticed the white nylon... bushing? slider? doo hicky? and said "I bet that is your problem"
Duly noted I thought... we managed to get the handle working temporarily.
I drove home, and decided I should get down to business and order that part.
Before ordering it, I decided to have another look, and see how hard it would be to replace... T20 bit and driver in hand, out to the car I went.
I removed the little screws to the locking mechanism cover, and the rear handle screw.
I tried like H*11 to get that little nylon piece back into the slot... I decided to completely remove it... BANG! back popped the door handle...
I tried it 20 or 30 times to see if it was going to jam again... Nope.
If, in the future I should have a problem, I'll just order the part and be done with it...
For now? $42 savings not including shipping (if any). So...
If for some reason, someone should stumble on this little post, and decides it needs to be in a different thread... That would be nice.
I hope I have helped someone somewhere.
195,300 miles and still going strong.
Glad they paid that insurance bill... and I'm glad I have full coverage on my '05-ST
Its well worth the money. "Just in case"
(I thought they would total the car, I was sooo stressing over that!)
Guess my insurance company thinks like all of us... ST's ROCK and they are WORTH saving! woot!

I've done that a few times with other cars. I take it to a car wash and blast the carpet as close as possible with the pressure washer (when removed from the car). Nice and clean!

Just got done spending the last three days with my focus. Hand washed, clayed, buffed, polished and waxed. Dressed all the rubber, waxed the wheels... Detailed the interior with a tooth brush and q-tips, then detailed the engine bay....

Here I thought I was hardcore, but:
