Dura 2.0 Cams... Are they worth it?
I found a stage 1 crane cams set (CRN-224-0010) for $300 and want to hear from people experienced with cams. Are they worth it?

Stg1 Doesn't add a whole lot, but it will be different. It depends on your level of mechanical skills. If you can do it yourself, then change it out- and you'll surely enjoy it for $300 + timing tools and an oil change.

Speaking purely out of my
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() here, but from what I've heard; with full bolt-ons and tune you should get 10-15whp from the cams (again, so I've heard) which will definitely be noticeable. Or you could spend a little more and swap in a D23. Depending on your mechanical skills and what not and receive more hp/tq and have more power options later on.

I have these cams, & they work great for me= A great set of DD cams. Easy to install. Even thou I forgot 'bout the tensioner= I had to pull off the front cover= a couple more hrs. I had no issues w/ the clearence, you shouldn't being the base circle is the same. I have a 23 & installing these cams in a 20 I believe your going to have & notice the same gains as I have. The stock cams are pretty wimpy. I hope this helps you.

I've been looking at the stage 2 crane cams. I'm curious if anyone has them, and what you need to upgrade internally for them?

The 224-0010 cams are more then enough for your 20. You'll notice a difference. I'd say if your going to add the 0012 cams, Then I'd add a 23 head. You'd need to add valve springs for sure & you'll need in & out stuff= sri/cai & a header to take advantage of those cams. I really thought of adding those cams, Then figured this is my DD car. I've had plenty of cammed up V/8's= a couple of 5.0's & a few 301's & 327's & others. I use to shop duration= Look at 230/240 degrees at .050 to start w/ for a DD.

I noticed a very slight difference when I did the stage 1's on my NA 2.0. Definitely not worth it unless you are installing yourself. You will need a tune to maximize benefits.
Walter Marcy did a lot of testing with the Crane cams... you will need to adjust them to also achieve the best curve. I would suggest stage 2 cams if you plan to stay NA
