The one thru five dial is in the MKIII focus. My brothers 06 ST was just an on/off switch.

OK, but my console bezel is part of the console, one huge piece of molded plastic. It would need to be cut off with a dremel tool in order to install another bezel. Perhaps the cars with these switches had the standard bezel section cut off at the factory allowing the special bezel to snap into place.

I see some cars came with traction control button and no heated seats. It looks to me like a drivers seat switch will plug into the traction control switch hole for drivers only heat feature.

post a picture of your console ;)

my 05 zx5 SES has heated seats and traction control and it snap out. Even my old 03 SPI base Foci console, without any switch, was just snap in.

Not much to see. The external appearance of the console suggests the bezel is a separate piece, but when you examine it closely from inside you can see there's no seam separation. It definitely has not been plastic welded together with a machine. Console has been molded as one piece. I should footnote that I'm talking about a factory console I bought on the forum with center armwrest. I don't know the year, so it could be year 2000 or something prior to when traction control and heated seat options became available. Heated seats were apparently not offered in 2000 because they do not appear in the wiring diagram book. I don't think power seats were available either. I'm guessing traction control wasn't. If this is the case, there would be no need for buttons or wiring access thru removable bezel.

I'm going to suggest getting another console, probably from a junk yard or fom someone here. A 2 piece console should fit right in, and you don't have to worry about hacking, chopping and cobbling a console.

thnx, I just looked at my original '07 console with no armrest and it indeed has the 2pc design with separate bezel. It may be tough to find an affordable console with armrest in the right color with a single button bezel for drivers heat only. I don't want to spend hundreds for a stupid button, I'd rather just cut a hole to mount it. Oh what to do.......

I don't think it would be quite so hard. All Focus' from 2000 to 2007 pretty much used the same console regardless of trim level, plus the vast majority I've seen are black. I never even knew there was any difference until you brought it up (2 piece vs 1 piece).

I guess I should clarify - I would get any 2 piece console and cut a hole for the button. I think you would be happier with the results than trying to cut and reassemble your 1 piece console. Hope this helps.

If I resort to cutting a hole to fit a surface-mounted generic heat button & cobble up wiring, there's no reason to purchase a third console. Realize that the proper factory OEM heated seat button will not fit in a hole cut by hand. They are not surface-mounted.

I already bought a second console costing $100 in order to get an integral armrest. Taking bezel button configurations and arm rests into account, there were at least 16 different "black-ish" console configurations used from '00-'07 (in shades of dark gray, charcoal and black). The shifter hole bezel cover by itself costs over $100 new, some colors and button configurations have been obsoleted. It is especially tough to find a console in good condition and proper color with working armrest latch complete with all plastic parts. Any missing parts will be super expensive or obsolete.
