Since this is a new model, I personally would not let an independent mechanic touch it just yet.

Just my personal preference.

It's been out for two years, and the suspension and steering isn't really anything groundbreaking.

Don't be to hard on yourself, hell I had my ST for two hours and scuffed a curb when pulling in to a parking spot. I was not used to the turn radius. Got to say my 05 turned tighter then this design does.

LOL! My Ford ranger 4x4 had a tighter turn radius! I'm used to it now but it was strange to have a smaller car with a wider turn radius....

I curbed a wheel with 89 miles on mine. I took it to a wheel repair specialist and got it fixed, 100 bucks (of course, it was just cosmetic, not bent).

If the wheel is just scuffed, I'd search the area for someone that does wheel repairs. We have one around here, and when I curbed the wheel on my Sonata, he told me $40 and it'd be good as new.

Heck I have had mine over a year now and still think to myself when taking tight turns that my 05 turned WAY sharper.

If you think turning radius is bad with a Mk3, just try Ti Handling Pack (18 in. wheels). It's painful to get in and out of my parking spot behind the house... my F350 long bed crew cab dually is not much worse!

Ugh. Stop reminding me. You should see me trying to maneuver into my alley when the driveway is full. I feel like Jimmy Fallon in Taxi when he tries to make a 78-point turn.

lol TPMS is the most useless thing. Last winter I hit a pothole and blew out the sidewall of my brand new winter tire. I pulled into the next street, had the car parked, and was already on the phone for a minute before the car alerted me to low tire pressure. It's a joke.

As for what happened, sorry to hear it. Everybody does this kind of thing at least once in their life...and at least yours was an accident and not the "I think I can powerslide into that spot..." type of thing. You should be alright to just get it buffed out on the wheel. As for the alignment, definitely get it done either way. It'll be worth it in the end instead of the possibility that it needs it and something gets ruined because you don't get it.
