I have had too many cars to count in my 65 years, none of them got a lot louder until the exhaust rusted out many years into it's life. 1 Year old and 19,000 miles is to new.

The Exhaust does not get louder. (Unless it's got a hole or the mufflers are damaged)
The Engine gets louder as it wears in. I have 2 briggs lawnmowers Exactly the same engine. One is New and it's Quiet One is Old and it's Noisy

It's a resonance drone at hiway speeds, when the second snow storm (13.5" last week and now 5 days later another 10" so far) lets me back on the roads I will get the rpm where its loudest.

Hey everyone,
If you are concerned about the amount of noise your vehicle is making, a good next step is dropping by your dealership so they can inspect. Ford certified techs are specially trained to determine whether or not the behavior your vehicle is exhibiting is normal or not. Crystal

Crystal:
Thanks for the suggestion, but I've been there, done that. As soon as I get sufficiently motivated, I'll crawl under the car and see if I can't find something loose. As things are, the car isn't loud enough for the dealer to spend 10 minutes to inspect--that's clearly his decision, and I understand making that choice. The car may well be in the range of "normal." But I don't like the direction it's heading. I'm not willing to wait until it's making so much noise that even a dealer will realize it's worth attending. And if I remain stupendously lazy, I'll ask an independent mechanic to take a look at it. |

"Re: sync
I sent Cassidy an email requesting that she give you a call. Her status shows she's away; I'm not sure if she's at lunch or out of the office. If you don't hear from her today, you should on Monday. Have a great weekend! Jaclyn" Still waiting for that call from 1-25-12. Dealers and ford are a waste of time, take time off for work for the dealer to tell you "It's normal". I will just turn the music louder. |

I don't think mine has gotten louder over time, but maybe. I'm definitely starting to notice the engine (or exhaust rumble) more on the highway. I think its more common in manuals because we have higher RPM's naturally.

Same with my car (though, it's an automatic).
