Moved to General Technical chat so you can get some more opinions.
Don't ever put a bigger fuse in, that's a quick way to burn something up and cause more problems. Most likely a switch is bad, or I wouldn't even be surprised if the Hatch wiring was messed up. Pop the hatch and pull the rubber boot back where it goes into the hatch at the top and inspect the wires. A lot of time the wires break the insulation from being opened and closed a lot causing them to ground out and cause some of the weirdest electrical problems.

More likely to be the hatch lock release motor itself. Unplug it (after removing the inner hatch trim) and see if triggering the button still blows fuses; if not, the motor itself is the problem. It's a non servieable sealed unit, iirc.

Can't see how it would be your speakers unless you somehow wired them into the same power circuit as the rear electrics?
If the "open hatch" button triggers the fuses to blow. it must be associated with the hatch circuit. You'd be looking for a dead short - 12V power direct to ground - usually caused by an exposed or chafed wire. |
