Newbie has some questions

I recently bought an 02 zx3 with a few issues. I picked it up for 600$ because the clutch was burnt and something was wrong with the brake lights. A few searches later and I've fixed the brake light issues and I put a new clutch in. At first the car looked to be in great condition but the more I look at it the worse it gets. It has a full body kit and the body kit is starting to pull away from the car. The spots that are pulling away is comply rust under the kit. My question is should I pull the whole kit off and hope for the best or is there a way I can clear the rust from under where the body kit attaches and reglue the body kit back on?

Either way it sounds like you're opening a can of worms. Personally I would suggest removal of the body kit, if you have the stock bumpers to go back on. It sounds like the rust has formed around the attachment points of the kit. I'm not a body/paint expert, but what I do know is that rust is cancerous. Once it infects a body panel the damage can be extensive. I would suggest removal of the kit and inspection of the rusted areas. Hopefully its just surface stuff and can be sanded down, primed and repainted. If its through the panel the only way to "guarantee" a fix is to replace the affected panels. If its a small enough area you may be able to cut it out and weld in a patch. Good luck my friend, being from Michigan I know how much fighting with rusty body panels sucks.

take some pics and post them up of how your car is now,but i agree removing the kit would be your best option as you will have more room to work with.

I just pulled the front bumper cover off because it was cracked in half. I'm going to grab one from pull a part later today. The kit isn't your average bumper covers and side skirts. The kit pretty much ads an entire new body to the car. It looks like it was glued on and now that it's pulling away from the body its pulling the original paint off as well leaving it open to rust. How do I put a pic on here?

I would get out while you can! That is nasty, and will require hours of bodywork and then a new paintjob.

I was thinking it would be easy to hide with a few properly placed bolts and a little filler. Then hit it with a 250$ maco paint job lol. Piecing the front bumper cover back together is the hard part. But if I can get it looking decent I'm sure I can dump it quick for 3grand. Anyone know where I can get a new Q front bumper cover for 200$ or less shipped? Or any other style cheap. Shipping prices cost more than the kits.

Your problem now is it's a widebody. So only the Q bumper will fit on that car now. You need to price out an OEM front bumper, rear bumper and fenders. Then you need to peel off those quarterpanels and fix the damage, there will be extensive damage behind that panel.

I can't recommend any "cheap" fixes because I wouldn't want to put another person in the same situation you're in. You can still make your money back (and maybe a little more)if you part it out.
