Moved: audiophile rear speakers

Hi I'm new here. I recently got a used 2005 zx4 st and so far I'm very happy with the car. I've been lurking this forum since I got my car and have done the DIY SRI and changed the oil/filter and switched to A103 copper plugs.

Anyways, I've noticed that even though there's a sub in the trunk, I can't really hear the bass unless I crank it up to max. Then yesterday, I noticed when I switch to just Rear speakers, there's no bass at all. I only hear the bass from the Front speakers. Is this normal or should I look into replacing the rear speakers? I prefer not to have to replace the HU and get a converter so I can keep using the steering wheel controls.

The Audiophile amp is really anemic to say the least. You would do better if you replaced the sub with an aftermarket 8" sub and bought a different amp to drive it IMO.

Welcome, lap561. It sounds as if your subwoofer isn't working at all. It certainly isn't normal for the rear speakers to not play bass notes when you select them alone. It may be a wiring issue, or the rear speakers may be bad. Good luck.

looks like imma get a new multimeter this weekend. Does the bass that comes to the sub fed by the audio input to the front/back speakers (filtered LFE)?

just throw out the rear speakers replace the sub and sub amp and get a nice set of front speakers. a nice component set would do wonders. could even do a 400-600watt 4channel. front left ad right output to the front left and right speakers and then the rear output bridged to the sub. would make a world of a difference in sq and spl.

I made a CD with good bass samples on it then played it. The bass comes out of front and back the same level. I guess the song I was listening to that one day for some reason just didn't play bass on back speakers.

It turns out my sub isn't working. I cranked it up and put my hand on it...nothing. I opened up the amp and didn't see a fuse. I'm checking the back of the HU now to see if it's plugged in...

Update...well as it turns out, I don't have an Audiophile /w sub-out. The plug is just laying there. My HU is a 6-disc changer with just the plug in for sirius and the main plug. Bummer.

Either get an audiophile HU or get a new HU altogether with the correct harness and the sub will work.
