Hks Exhaust W/OBX header...

I think I might do this, any suggestions or warnings?

I know I won't get to much in Hp, but I hate how my car cackles... well, coughs, or whatever.

I have a magnaflow on now,, and saw a focus with a magnaflow and it sounded amazing. they guy said it was because of his header... idk how true it is, but idr the way mine sounds (fully) anyway.

so, what do you think?

svt header is one of the best flowing ones out there..
personally, i wouldn't replace it unless you were going turbo... then you kinda have to lol...

Keep the OEM header and keeping the cat will help reduce the noise.

The Maganflow is LOUD on an SVT. Just the HKS exhaust will really quiet it up. An OBX long tube will be louder, but the HKS is a pretty good exhaust at keeping things quiet.

That's really weird.. the OBX SVT header looks exactly like the OEM one. Anyone running that header?

Don't bother replacing a really good header with a cheaper knock-off. I am not sure but does the HKS have a resonator in the exhaust tunnel before the muffler? You would be better off putting a resonator on there if it doesn't have one. Another thing that wasn't mentioned, do you have the stock catalytic converter or do you have an off-road pipe? Having an ORP will make a difference in the sound of the exhaust as well.

I think i know what he means... Even though the obx is a copy of the design its made of a diff material than the oem one, it will sound diff but that doesnt mean its better. But maybe that guy you talked to had an orp, that will make everything louder

HERE is a link to our SVT sticky threads, lots of great info on performance parts, what and what doesn't work for the SVT.

I'm using the stock SVT header with a Random Technologies High Flow Cat and an HKS exhaust. It sounds great and has a nice rumble at start up and idle. It maybe loud to some on the lower RPM range but at speed it's pretty quiet. As for HP couldn't give you any numbers. I never dyno'd my car.

I have the hks exhaust it has a resonator and a muffler before the can muffler. I never thought that part would do much but if you take that section off its MUCH louder. I had it on when I was NA and loved it. Still have it on boosted and love it even more I get compliments on the deep tone all the time
