In my view the luck of the draw, meaning individual cars can have different results. The o-rings provide the most trouble since some leak after one year and some never leak depending on the will of the gods. Ford has always made a/c systems that if gas tight work very well, something wrong that the designer cannot control if they don't freeze your butt off. I have no trouble getting 15 year plus old Ford cars to cool way very well and multiple models.............

i had a limited.. after the the blend doors failed i had to rip apart the dash and replace both the doors and actuators along with servicing the AC compressor was not for the faint of heart and spend three days swearing and cutting up my hands I pray I never have to do that to my Focus for any reason :-/ i miss the days of simplistic repairs my Fiero's heater core went and the removal/installation was easy... step one remove passenger speaker. step two remove clamps supporting heater core. step three remove and replace. follow in reverse to install. The only hard part was bleading the coolant system afterwards to bring this back on topic AC is always a hit or miss it seems that fiero still apparently had its original freon according to all the service records and chilled quite nicely in the summer time even after 23 years

From what I saw the oldschool screw together connections on a/c always lasted longer without leaking. I had strings of cars that never leaked any refrigerant to need recharging. Once the quick connect o-rings showed up trouble city then.

Not so, or only if you give up too easy or believe the propaganda. Cars still have pretty much the same systems, and quite frankly the electronics on top of those systems are frequently not the problem. One just has to go about things in a somewhat different manner. Of course, if one does not like to read he may as well give up, the new technology is out there to be learned about but one has to make the effort. Public library reference sections are loaded with it. Simply listening to your friend or uncle or the family go-to-car-guy is what will not cut it any more, as he is the one that often has not a clue. Those various peoples have literally caused as much or more trouble here onsite as the initial bad part............
