Unhappy Fixes for Terrible Sirius Quality?

Just got my 2012 Ti Hatch with the 3 months Sirius Package. For news and sports its great, but the streaming quality is just terrible. The audio is terribly compressed and sounds worse than FM. Was wondering if there was a fix to this aftermarket or otherwise or that is just the way it is. I get way better quality streaming Sirius from my phone's data connect but of course the interface isn't as nice, having to thumb through my phone's menus. What's everyone else's experience? I've read on the internet that streaming quality varies based on channel, time of day, and other content airing but I have to believe there's a better way, right?

SiriusXM is known for its crap music quality.
If you're using the "mobile apps", check out Pandora (even the free version)---night and day difference vs SXM.

I find Pandora's music quality to be poor - way too much compression. Though to be fair I listen with headphones so it is much easier to notice. Songza seems to use much less compression.

Hey Steve, just checked out "songza" in the App Store. Thanks for the rec.

Does Sync Mobile Apps recognize "songza", or must it be streamed bluetoothly ?
( bluetoothly would be the adverb form of Bluetooth )

Unfortunately, I have MFT so I can't help on your sync question. Just FYI, Google purchased songza last week.

I use spotify for music and the streaming quality over my phone is pretty good. Guess I'm just going to have to deal with the quality with sirius although mostly I use it for talk and sports for which the quality is acceptable at least.

I have no problem with Sirius sound quality, just the harassment when it come time to renew. The rates keep going up. Was about $146 per year in 2012, now it is about $196. Then when I tell them I am going to cancel my subscription because I really don't listen to it but a few times per year, they don't want to take no for an answer and will keep calling me or e-mailing me with offers for a reduced rate. I told them ... instead of offers, why not just reduce your rates? Seems especially silly for someone to buy a smaller car for better gas mileage only to pay almost $200 a year for a radio subscription. Kind of negates the reason of getting a more fuel efficient car to save gas money don't it?

Way overpriced. I compare it to Netflix all the time when it comes to price... it simply costs to much for audio only service.

So many free android and ios radio services .. and Google's all access monthly subscription is pretty well priced as its totally portable across all your devices..

It does eat your data but for my unsafe I manage to keep under my 5gig a month allotment.

Took three months for Sirius to leave me alone after my subscription expired.. a bunch of its features also did not work in Canada. Weather ect

I got Sirius only because it was part of a package, not because I wanted it. I think after the current subscription expires, I'm cancelling it for good.
