Help identifying parts on 2002 LX

Hello,

So I have two parts that need replacing and I dont know what they are called so I can purchase them.

First one is next to the header and is a pipe that is cracked and is making the car sound like a single prop airplane to give you an idea. How bad is it that the car is being driven with the cracked pipe and what is its purpose?

The second is a tube that goes from the engine block to the air filter.

Any help would be appreciated.

Second one I believe is the pcv hose and the first one looks like a egr tube

to save yourself some $, you can use just about anything for the second one (breather hose). You can probably buy a two-foot section of tubing from an auto parts store for a couple of dollars and it would work just as well as the dealer part (which is probably ten or twenty bucks).

yeah #2 is just a breather tube, just get tubing and run it to the air filter. or, what some people do, is just buy a tiny cone filter, like 12mm tiny, and stick it on the engine where you pull the hose/tube off.

no idea as the zetec breather line is on the other side of the engine bay as i understand. find the hose that runs to the intake box, and trace it back. some guys with the pcv valve just secure a hose straight down under the car to let oil just go to the street though instead of the intake housing

^which is an awesome shortcut, because what this nation needs is MORE pollution, not less.

If those pics are of your engine... you have an spi
but yes, it also works on a zetec if you use a short piece of hose to clear the coil pack.
